Here's a great way to keep you warm during winter and cold seasons. In addition to offering a rustic look to your van conversion, a small wood stove offers a good source of heat that is reliable and efficient. There is nothing more soothing than drinking tea or reading a book in front of the crackle of a small fire. The wood stove is much quieter than a diesel heater and can be used for cooking. This heating system is simple and provides you with a dry heat source that helps remove humidity in your van. In addition to providing you with a calming atmosphere, the wood burning stove helps prevent mold in your campervan.
Cubic Mini Wood Stoves is the best option on the market. Their smallest wood burning stove, the CUB model, is perfect for heating a small space under 200 square feet. It is ideal for removing humidity and for staying warm and cozy in the cold climates. The GRIZZLY model is slightly larger and is better for a van or bus with higher ceiling. Both models offer a glass door. The GRIZZLY would be an excellent choice if I had to change the heating system in my bus.

Over time, bacteria and mold can grow in your van's fresh water tank. To be able to drink your tap water safely, you must clean your tank twice a year.
There are several ways to sanitize your van's water tank. Today, I am sharing with you what I've been doing for the last couple of years. It works pretty well. You only need two ingredients: bleach and water. It is simple, efficient and easy to do.
Since it is impossible to open the tank and to scrub it manually, it must be filled with a cleaning product. You will have to let it do its job for a couple of hours and then rinse it. Follow these steps to get your fresh water tank clean and ready for the next vanlife season!
You need 1 ounce of bleach per 30 liters (8 gallons) of water. 1 ounce equals approximately 30 ml of liquid. You can now calculate the amount of bleach you will need depending on the volume of your tank.
The fresh water tank of my converted school bus has a 70 liter capacity (18.5 gallons). 18.5 gallons divided by 8 gallons and the result multiplied by 30 milliliters. So, I will need about 69 ml of bleach to sanitize it.
Then, you must dilute the bleach in 1 gallon of water (3.78L). You should not pour undiluted bleach into your tank because it can damage the plumbing gaskets and seals.
The tank must be completely empty before starting cleaning. You also need to turn off the water pump. The first step is to fill a third of the tank with water. If you have a water heater and a filter, you need to bypass them. Then, add the diluted bleach mixture.
In my skoolie, the only way to access the tank is through the pump hose. I have to disconnect the pump hose to be able to pour the bleach mixture with a funnel.
The next step is to fill the tank to the top and start the water pump. Once it's done, turn on the sink and shower faucets until you smell bleach. It has quite a strong smell.
Once your tank is filled with the cleaning product, you should let it sit for a few hours. Cleaning will take place during this time. Generally, a waiting time of 5 to 12 hours is enough. On the other hand, if your tank has not been cleaned for a very long time, you can let the product sanitize for 24 hours.
While you wait, you can go for a ride with your van to stir the mixture. Driving is a good idea to help clean your water tank better.
The final step of cleaning is to drain and rinse your fresh water tank. Start by completely emptying the tank. Then, fill it to the max. Open the sink and shower faucets until it no longer smells like bleach. This step may take some time but don't give up, you're almost done! To finish cleaning, refill your water tank and rinse again. You can fill and empty the tank several times to make sure there is no longer bleach inside.
You are now ready to leave for your next road trip! There should be no more bacteria and a bad smell in your van's fresh water tank and plumbing. You can drink and cook with your tap water safely.
It is recommended to clean your van's fresh water tank every six months to prevent bacteria and mold buildup. This way, you can drink the water from your campervan safely.
I have to store my converted school bus for winter. In this case, it is preferable to sanitize my water tank before storage and to clean it again at the beginning of the next camping season.
If you have any questions or suggestions regarding cleaning your campervan's fresh water tank, please leave a comment below or contact me.
Happy travels and see you on the road!

This local Canadian business allows its customers to gain storage space and travel better. Peace of mind is very important while traveling. Phlö System ensures a professional service that is adapted to your needs and your budget. The travel accessories that are offered will allow you to no longer have space constraints when storing and transporting your outdoor equipment. Bring all of your sports equipment on every trip and make the most of your vanlife adventures.

《We work directly with our clients to design outdoor equipment that is tailored to their needs. The accessories are mainly adapted for Class B vehicles such as the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Ford Transit and Dodge Ram ProMaster.》- Philippe Beaulieu, founder of Phlö System.
Phlö System is known for its custom-made rear door carriers for spare tires, different sizes of aluminum storage boxes and paddle board racks. Moreover, they offer a wide variety of accessories such as side steps, roof racks, ladders, catalytic converter protection plate and much more.
Three boxes and racks for the back doors of a Dodge Ram ProMaster. The sizes are optimized for your storage. The small case has a vent for the propane tank. One of the boxes converts into an outdoor kitchen area with a drawer and some extra counter space. Everything is aluminum-made.
The accessories that are installed on the rear doors of the vehicles are designed for the Sprinter, the Transit and the ProMaster. The company also offers custom products that can be installed on class C motorhomes, Jeeps, 4x4s, trucks and a variety of vans.
A tire carrier, one rear door ladder, one rear door platform and a custom-made aluminum box.
Philippe Beaulieu, the founder of Phlö System, is a welder with 20 years of experience. His grandfather is an engineer and his father is a cabinetmaker. Thanks to his family, Philippe became passionate about manufacturing, assembly and innovation of various materials.
Aluminium box and carrier for a Ford Transit with a bike rack installed over the box. Ladder and roof rack with deck and solar panel.
《My mother and my father were passionate about skiing, snowboarding, cycling and windsurfing. They made me discover what it is to have passions. They allowed me to travel, make great discoveries and appreciate my hobbies even more.》
In the 90s, Philippe's parents had converted a Ford Econoline for a road trip from Quebec to Cape Hatteras, in North Carolina. There were 2 adults, 3 children and 8-10 windsurfing kits in the same vehicle! You don’t need to tow a trailer to be able to bring your equipment. Phlö System offers options that are way more convenient.
In 2020, Philippe and his family purchased a 19-foot class C motorhome. When you travel as a family with young children, you quickly realize that you need to pack a lot of items. The trolley, stroller, camping chairs and all the other accessories require a lot of storage space.
《At that moment, I decided to design three exterior storage boxes to store all this equipment. Our camper started to capture people’s attention. Then, thanks to word-of-mouth, I was contacted by a lot of people who were looking for those types of products.》
These custom accessories can be hard to find on the market. They are also very expensive and some vanlifers are not ready to invest a huge amount of money for this kind of equipment. At this moment, Philippe seized the opportunity to start his business. There was high demand from his customers and he decided to invest all of his time into this project which he is passionate about. The accessories manufactured by Phlö System will allow you to transport surfboards, bicycles, paddle boards and any other outdoor gear. You will be able to fully enjoy your outdoor adventures.
《Our products are perfect for travel and outdoor enthusiasts. Thanks to our accessories, people who live occasionally or full time in their camper van will be able to easily increase their storage space and remain minimalist while traveling.》
《Since I became the father of two surprising little girls, my wife and I want to allow them to explore the world and develop their own passions. It was during our road trip from Quebec to San Diego in the summer of 2023 that I decided to officially launch Phlö System.》
Visit the Phlö System online store to check out their products. You can also follow them on Facebook and Instagram to see their creations. If you have a custom request or a specific project, contact them via social networks.

My campervan is currently in storage and I can't wait to get it out as soon as the snow melts. While waiting for winter to end, I am looking for new vanlife accessories for the next season. I enjoy carrying useful gadgets on my camping trips that would make my life easier. A portable power station is on top of my packing list. It is convenient to have some sort of battery to charge your electronic devices and power your appliances. It is also important to carry a backup power source in my van to help me out in case of an emergency.
I already have a portable power station but this time, I am looking for something more compact and easier to carry around. The BLUETTI AC2A 300W is one of the smallest portable power stations you can find on the market. It is smaller than the AC70 and lighter than the EB3A. It weighs only 7.9 lbs and it could fit in a backpack.
The BLUETTI AC2A is not just a simple little battery. Thanks to the integrated Pure Sine Wave inverter, this portable power station converts the 12V into 120V and lets you run small appliances up to 300W (up to 600W with Power Lifting Mode). It will certainly be a useful addition to my camping equipment. During the night, I will be able to charge my phone, my camera and my tablet. During the day, if I have to catch up on some work, I will be able to plug in my laptop and play some music on a small speaker at the same time.
The BLUETTI AC2A is not a bulky and heavy portable power station. Contrariwise, it is very light and easy to carry around. 7.9 lbs is not much for this kind of device. It is also the smallest portable power station offered by Bluetti. Its compact design allows you to easily grab it and leave for your next adventure. It won't take a lot of space in your van and you can even take it with you on a hike. Thanks to its small size, you could go way further with this portable power station. If you transport this device in a bag, don't forget to keep it upright because it may damage the internal structure.
The BLUETTI AC2A is perfect for charging electronics and running small appliances. The battery can last a couple of hours depending on what you plug in. It is possible to expand its capacity by connecting it to the B80 battery. This expansion battery is sold separately. This portable power station provides you with 300W of AC power. Be careful because there are a lot of appliances that demand more power to run.
The AC2A has 6 different outputs. You can power and charge several devices at the same time. It has two AC 120V outlets, two USB-A ports, one USB-C port and a 12V DC car outlet. If you want to power multiple appliances at the same time, be careful not to exceed the 300W rated power. This power station can handle higher loads up to 600W when you enable the Power Lifting Mode via the BLUETTI App.
The easiest way to charge this device is to plug it in a regular wall outlet. The battery will be at 100% in less than an hour and a half. You can also use solar panels if you don’t have access to electricity. The solar panels are sold separately. The last option is to plug the AC2A in your van while you drive. The battery will be full before you arrive at your camping spot.
The AC2A has a 300W maximum solar input. This power station is pretty small and the solar charging is highly efficient. If the weather is great, the battery will be full in 70 minutes. Thanks to this feature, the AC2A can become self-sufficient and can be recharged pretty much anywhere.
Here are the solar panels that are compatible with this device. These items are sold separately.
BLUETTI PV200 Solar Panel 200W
CAD $560.00
BLUETTI PV120 Solar Panel 120W
CAD $339.00
A portable power station is an essential accessory for vanlife. You can easily charge all of your electronic devices and power some small appliances. Even if I already have an electrical system in my converted school bus, I like to bring the Bluetti on every trip in case of an emergency. If the system fails and the house batteries get drained, the portable power station will provide reliable power and let me enjoy the rest of the road trip.
If you are interested in trying a bigger portable power station, check out the BLUETTI AC70 1000W. This model is way more powerful but it is heavier. This battery has 7 practical outputs and provides you with 1000W of AC 120V power. It could totally replace your campervan's electrical system. The AC70 can run bigger appliances like a toaster and a small refrigerator. I've been using this device for a while now and I can assure you that it is a reliable source of power.
The BLUETTI AC2A 300W is perfect for outdoor activities. It is one of the lightest portable power stations and it is very easy to carry around. It is currently on sale and you can buy it for CAD $249.00. It is a pretty good price for all the features you get right out of the box. Having access to outdoor power is a game changer. This device can follow you on every adventure and it can be recharged pretty much anywhere. You can even plug it to solar panels! It is a good accessory for vanlife and it is worth giving it a try!
Have a good trip and see you on the road!

There's nothing worse than getting eaten by mosquitoes and all sorts of insects while trying to sleep at night. There's nothing worse than having to leave your windows closed just because you don't want to let the flies in. Having bug nets on your skoolie's doors and windows will be a game changer. Your vanlife experience will become way more pleasant.
There are several ways to make window screens for your skoolie. Before making my own, I wanted to buy some online but couldn't find any. Nobody was selling exactly what I was looking for. This is why I decided to make my own. At this time, I didn't have much free time so it had to be done quickly. Today, I will show you what I came up with. It is not the best way to do it but it is cheap, easy and it doesn't demand any technical skills. No sewing and no drilling.
First of all, you have to measure the size of your windows and decide how many bug nets you want to make. This way, you will be able to calculate how much screen roll and Velcro tape you will need for this job. Keep in mind that the bug net is removable and can be installed on any window. In my bus, there are 6 usable windows and I decided to put together only 4 mosquito nets.
Then, go to your local hardware store to get some window screen roll, heavy duty tape and Velcro tape.
Measure and cut the screen to the size of your window. You should leave a little border and cut a bit larger to cover more surface. It will be easier to stick the tape and install the screen afterwards.
You have to stick the Gorilla tape all around the border of the screen. Follow the outline and install the tape on the outline. Be careful because the heavy duty tape is permanent and cannot be removed.
Next, install the Velcro tape on the borders of the screen, directly on the Gorilla tape. You can use the soft side of the Velcro: the loop. It will stick instantly and it will be very solid.
The final step is to install the rough side of the Velcro, the hook, all around your skoolie's window. It will easily stick on the metal but make sure the surface is clean before doing this job. Measure and cut enough Velcro tape to go all around the window.
You can now install your new bug net directly on the window! I suggest you make only one bug net and test it before doing another one. If the screen is not large enough to cover the window, simply add more Gorilla tape on the borders to extend it.
This method is not the best but it is easy and anybody can do it. These mosquito nets are light, flexible, strong and they don't take much space in your bus. You can even roll them for easier storage. You can even drive your bus with an opened window and the bug net will stay in place!
The easiest and cheapest way to have bug nets on the front and the back door of your converted school bus is to install magnetic screen doors. These products are inexpensive and they are offered in different sizes to fit your needs. You can find magnetic screen doors in your local hardware store or anywhere online.
To install the screen doors, you can apply the same method mentioned above. The Velcro tape will be very helpful. It is convenient to be able to remove the screen easily to clean it or to work on the bus. Back in 2022, when we installed new seats in our bus, we needed to remove the front door bug net to pass the seats through the door. Removing this mosquito net was simple and fast.
The installation can be tricky depending on the size of your door and the conversion of your bus. At some places, it is possible to screw the screen directly on the bus. In my bus, I had to stick the Velcro on the side of the stairs to get to the bottom of the front door.
Having bug nets in your skoolie is a game changer. There's nothing better than being able to sleep at night with opened windows without getting eaten by mosquitoes and all sorts of unpleasant insects. During the day, it is pleasant to leave the doors open to maximize airflow without letting the flies in. Dealing with bugs in your bus can become a real struggle! Help yourself by installing mosquito nets on your doors and windows. You won't regret it!
If you have better ideas to keep the bugs out or you want to share some tips, leave a comment below or contact me directly.
Happy travels and see you on the road!

Nowadays, converting a van is getting very expensive and some people don't have the budget to install a sophisticated electrical system in their vehicle. The most popular van conversions are equipped with a 2000W inverter, multiple solar panels and powerful lithium batteries. This setup will cost several thousands of dollars and you have to ask yourself if you really need that much power in your rig. If you are not living in your van full time and you’re not working from it, having so much power is not a necessity. Some people want to keep it simple, be more minimalistic and enjoy their week-ends in the woods. If you don’t have massive electrical needs, you can easily power your van’s appliances from a portable power station. This is when the BLUETTI AC70 1000W comes into play!
It is possible to replace a van’s electrical system by one or multiple portable power stations. If you are travelling for short periods of time and you don’t need to run your appliances 24/7, the BLUETTI AC70 will become your best friend. All you need is to be able to charge your phone, tablet, camera and laptop. You need to be able to cook a hot meal and power up some lights later at night. Vanlife can be fun even if you keep it simple!
Personally, I don't need a fancy fully equipped Sprinter worth 200 000$ to have fun on the road. My old school bus provides me with everything I need to enjoy a road trip: a roof over my head, a comfy bed to sleep at night, a stove to cook, a fridge to store fresh food and some water to wash the dishes. In addition, the Bluetti gives me peace of mind by providing reliable power every time I need it.
The BLUETTI AC70 weighs about 22.5 lbs and uses Lithium-ion Phosphate batteries which ensure over 3000 charge cycles. It can be controlled and monitored from the BLUETTI App. Directly from your phone, you can check out your battery’s operations. You can also activate and deactivate useful modes like Power Lifting and ECO.
The AC70 provides you with 7 practical outputs. You can charge and power multiple devices at the same time. It has two AC 120V outlets, two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports and one 12V DC car outlet. When you activate the AC power, the integrated Pure Sine Wave inverter converts the 12V into 120V. It gives you access to 1000W continuous power which is able to support multiple appliances. If you enable the Power Lifting Mode in the BLUETTI App, this power station will be able to handle high-power resistive loads up to 2000W. This feature is pretty impressive!
This toaster consumes 900W and the AC70 handles it perfectly.
When it comes to recharging this device, you can plug it to an AC wall socket or plug it in your car while driving with the 12V socket that comes in the box. You can also charge it outside thanks to the solar panels sold separately. The AC charging time is between 1.3 and 1.8 hours thanks to the 850W turbo charging. This is pretty fast! The solar charging time can vary between 2.8 and 3.3 hours depending on the weather. It has a 500W maximum solar input. If it is cloudy and cold outside, the charging time will be slower.
If you are out for a longer trip and you don’t have access to electricity, you can rely on the Bluetti solar panels to recharge your portable power station. Check out the solar panels that are compatible with this device. The AC70 has a 500W maximum solar input and the panels are sold separately.
During one of my camping trips, I was parked for a longer period of time and didn’t want to use my bus’ battery to recharge the Bluetti. The sun was out and it was the perfect time to use the solar panels!
BLUETTI PV200 Solar Panel 200W
CAD $560.00
BLUETTI PV120 Solar Panel 120W
CAD $339.00
BLUETTI PV350 Solar Panel 350W
CAD $899.00
The BLUETTI AC70 1000W portable power station can also be used as a backup power source. Even if there is an electrical system in my converted school bus, I like to bring the Bluetti on every trip in case of an emergency. If the system fails and the batteries get drained, the portable power station will help me resolve the problem. I could plug in power tools to fix what's broken. I will also be able to charge all of my electronics and enjoy the rest of the trip. In case of an emergency, I can power my 12V fridge for a couple of hours to save the food! This power station is an essential accessory for vanlife and I recommend it to every traveler out there.
Last year, there were a lot of storms that caused several power outages at home. At this time, I was happy to have a portable power station to help me out. Thanks to Bluetti, I was able to charge my phone, turn on the lights and run some home appliances up to 1000W (up to 2000W in Power Lifting Mode). This battery can be very handy in case of an emergency.

If you are interested in trying a smaller portable power station, check out the BLUETTI EB3A 600W. This model is lighter, very compact and easier to carry. During outdoor activities, this battery can charge all of your electronic devices. It can also run some home appliances under 600W like a blender, a TV and a small refrigerator. Personally, I can assure you that the EB3A is a handy little device and a reliable source of power.
I believe the BLUETTI AC70 is the perfect portable power station for vanlife in 2024. It will be very convenient to carry this accessory with you on your next road trip. It will charge your devices and power your appliances during your outdoor adventures. It is not too big and easy to carry around. It will give you peace of mind and answer all of your electrical needs in case of an emergency.
Have a good trip and see you on the road!

The classic halogen headlights found on old vehicles are not very efficient for driving in the evening and at night. Especially when you decide to venture on dark remote roads. When we travel in a van, we are often looking for peaceful and quiet spots to spend the night. We want to camp on remote sites that allow us to enjoy nature. The paths to get there can be dark and difficult to access. This is why it is recommended to have powerful headlights for optimal lighting and better visibility.
If you have a vintage van or an old converted school bus like mine, the information below may be useful to you. The steps to follow to replace your headlights are simple and inexpensive. You will be able to do it easily with a little research and simple tools.
LED headlights are made of electroluminescent light bulbs which have a much longer lifespan than incandescent and halogen bulbs. In addition, these headlights are more energy efficient and provide better visibility on the road. Nowadays, a lot of new vehicles are equipped with LED headlights. This is unfortunately not the case for old cars.
On the other hand, some LED headlights are very expensive. Replacing an LED headlight on a newer car can cost several hundreds of dollars. Unlike conventional headlights, it is not possible to replace a bulb on LEDs. The headlamp is sealed and must be replaced entirely if broken.
Before purchasing your headlights, make sure they are compatible with your van or bus. Check the dimensions and the socket of your current headlights. On auto parts sites, enter the make, model and year of your vehicle before searching.
For my skoolie, which is a 1998 Ford E-350 Econoline, I chose the LEDUR 5x7 LED Headlights which are available on Amazon. This brand offers two size options that are compatible with several models of Ford, Dodge, Chevrolet and Jeep. My headlights cost only CAD $48.99 and they come with an H4 socket which is compatible with my bus.
Once you have received your new headlights, you can remove the old ones. The steps to follow for a Ford Econoline are very simple. There are two bolts to unscrew above every headlight. You must open the hood of the van to access these bolts. Then, you can remove the headlight’s frame and unscrew the 4 screws hidden behind. The headlights can now be easily removed. The last step is to unplug the H4 socket located behind every headlight.
You can now follow the same steps to install the new headlights. They will fit perfectly. The H4 sockets on my van were a little loose and there was a risk that they would unplug while driving. I used some electrical tape to secure them well. Before screwing everything in and closing the hood, you can turn on the high beams and low beams to check if everything is working properly.
At night, you can go for a ride to test your new LED headlights! Make sure your high beams and low beams are still working properly. After the ride, check if everything is still in place. Verify that the headlights are in place and that nothing is moving. Tighten the bolts and screws if needed.
Having LED headlights on my van is a game changer for vanlife. I can now explore mountain roads without the fear of being stuck in the dark. These headlights give me excellent visibility. If an animal jumps on the road, I can see it sooner and stop before having an accident. When I arrive at my campsite late at night, the lights allow me to verify the spot before parking. The LED headlights compatible with vintage vans are inexpensive. Their price is around CAD $50.00 and the installation can be done by yourself in just a few minutes. Is it worth it!
Have a good trip and see you on the road!

Il n’y avait aucune interdiction "No overnight".

A portable power station is a battery that provides electricity anywhere you are without being plugged in. It's like a gas generator but without the gas, without the noise, without the carbon monoxide and it is much easier to start. You press "on" and you're done! They provide AC and DC power. You can easily charge your phone, your laptop or run home appliances. Larger models can power an entire house but we are more interested in the smaller ones which can be taken outside. Are you looking for the best fridge for vanlife? There are a lot of options on the market and this article will help you choose the right refrigerator for your van. This article will only cover 12 volt compressor fridges. 110V fridges are cheaper but they need a lot of power. Your inverter will have to run constantly and it will drain your house batteries faster. This is why 12 volt fridges are better. They are more expensive but way more efficient for a van conversion or a bus build. It is worth it to spend more to save on power consumption in the long run. They are easier to install and they don’t need a lot of solar power. You can run them 24/7 without any problems. There are multiple options on the market and you will have to make the choice that suits you best.
The upright refrigerator is my personal choice because the door opens from the front like a residential fridge. The food is easily accessible and you can see everything inside by opening the door. It's the only option that makes you feel like home and it's easier to find what you’re looking for inside.
A chest style fridge opens from the top like a cooler. You have to load your food from the top and it will be harder to access the items that are at the bottom. The chest style refrigerator is very easy to install and it doesn’t take a lot of space in your van. You can set it on heavy duty drawer slides or buy a slider for a specific model. It is available as a single zone or a dual zone fridge. If you want a freezer compartment, you will have to get a dual zone chest fridge. This product is small, versatile and portable. Therefore, it is not the most practical option.
A drawer refrigerator is a great option for your campervan conversion. It looks exactly like an upright fridge but the door slides like a drawer.
These refrigerators are very popular in Canada. They are quiet and they are made to last. They have a built-in freezer compartment and come with a black front panel. The door panel is replaceable to fit your van's design. You have multiple options and sizes from 68 liter capacity to 100 liter capacity. Nova Kool offers a lot of voltage options: DC only (12 and 24 volt) and AC/DC. A 12 volt setup is ideal for a van conversion and the R3100 87 liter model is a very good choice.

Nova Kool R3100 87 liter Refrigerator / Freezer

This refrigerator is built to increase efficiency and offer great performance. The door is rock solid, very well insulated and easily reversible from left to right. It has adjustable shelves and the tall bottles can stand upright inside. It has a small freezer compartment, it is quite small but it does the job! You can easily install this fridge to your 12 volt circuit. It can support AC and DC current. You have multiple options and sizes from 49 liter capacity to 130 liter capacity. My number one choice would be the Isotherm Cruise Elegance 85 liter model. It has a good compact size and is perfect for a van conversion. It is quiet and energy efficient.

If you are still reading this article, maybe you didn't find exactly what you were looking for. There are some other brands that can provide you with the camper van refrigerator of your dreams:
As I said earlier, an upright fridge is the most convenient option for a van. The stuff inside is easily accessible and it makes you feel like home. I would love to try the Nova Kool R3800 100 liter Refrigerator / Freezer. We love to cook in our converted school bus and 100 liters is enough space to last for a couple of days. We carry a lot of fresh ingredients that need to stay cool and it is easier when you don’t need to go to the grocery store every two days. Nova Kool offers a fair price and their product suits my needs perfectly.
In my opinion, 12 volt compressor refrigerators are the best for a campervan conversion. They are energy efficient, can fit in a small space and do not draw a lot of power. Most vans have an off grid electrical system with solar panels. Those fridges are simple to install to your electrical system and you can run them all day without any problems. They are more expensive than other types of campervan fridges but they are more convenient in the long run. It is a very good investment.
If you are looking for something different, you can check out absorption refrigerators, propane fridges and DC 110 volt fridges. To power a propane fridge you will need to carry a propane tank and refill it very often. It will get expensive over time. If you want a normal residential fridge, you will have to upgrade your electrical system. You will need more power and your inverter will have to run constantly. These options are totally possible but more expensive and tricky to install.
Having a fridge in your campervan is very important. Plan your van conversion wisely and leave enough space for the refrigerator that suits you the best!
Happy travels and see you on the road!
